"There shall be signs in the Sun, Moon and Stars" - Jesus Christ, Luke 21:25

astrology1Astrology is the science of studying celestial bodies (planets) and how these cycles affect life on earth. More importantly, Astrology shows how the energies of the solar system affect us. Everything in the Universe is Energy. I like to tell my clients that the planets energies affect you at all times, but we always have free will and choice. We choose how to respond to the energies that affect us based on our thoughts, words and actions. The Moon affects the tides of the ocean so why wouldn't it affect us? Did you ever wonder why when their is a Full Moon people are more irritable, more cars are broke down on the side of the road, and children are more hyper? This is not coincidence. The Moon rules our emotional nature and our body is made up of 85% water. I like to use astrology as a way to help others gain greater self-awareness and to help them understand others, plain and simple.

threewisemen1Throughout history, famous people have studied astrology and used it for several purposes. The Three Wise Men in the Bible were astrologers and learned that Christ would be born at a conjuntion of planets. This is when planets appear in the same time and place in the sky which begins the start of a new cycle. Pythagoras and Sir Isaac Newton were astrologers. The Bible is filled with astrological information. Christ had 12 disciples and their were 12 tribes of Israel, which are associated with the 12 signs of the zodiac. In the book, Kabbalistic Astrology it is explained that the 12 sons of Jacob were representative of the 12 signs of the zodiac and that the personality traits of each son were used to describe each Sun Sign we know today.

The 12 Disciples & The 12 Signs of the Zodiac (From Nicolas DeVore-Encyclopedia of Astrology)

  • DisciplesAries: Peter, the fiery, impulsive, changeable, pioneering leader, who eventually became the rock upon which was founded the New Church "of the Lamb." (Cardinal: inspirational)
  • Taurus: Simon Zelotes, the dogmatic, determined zealot; who was concerned with property and finances, rebelled against the payment of taxes, and received from Jesus the admonition - "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's." (Fixed: materialistic)
  • Gemini: James, "the lesser." Slow to accept the authenticity of the Messiah, but became the eloquent preacher of the church in Jerusalem, and an active evangelist and exhorter. (Mutable: intellectual)
  • Cancer: Andrew, the sympathetic homebody, a follower of John the Baptist, whose first thought when he discovered the Messiah was to run quickly and fetch his brother Simon. (Cardinal: sympathetic)
  • Leo: John, the most beloved apostle. (Fixed: inspirational) Virgo: Philip, always precise, calculating, enquiring, and practical. (Mutable: materialistic)
  • Libra: Bartholomew-Nathaniel, the innocently pure one "in whom there is no guile." The tactful, persuasive evangelist. (Initiating: intellectual)
  • Scorpio: Thomas, the doubting skeptic, yet bold and courageous. (Fixed: sympathetic)
  • Sagittarius: James, the great teacher, who with Peter and John became the spiritual leaders of the early church: the three fire sign types cooperating. (Mutable: inspirational)
  • Capricorn: Matthew, the tax gatherer, the politician, the one in authority in the governing seat in Rome. (Cardinal: materialistic)
  • Aquarius: Thaddeus-Jude, who considered the lot of the peasant, and sought to better the living and working conditions of the masses; and who interrogated Jesus at the Last Supper as to how he would manifest himself. (Fixed: intellectual)
  • Pisces: Judas Iscariot, who when he succumbed to temptation suffered severe pangs of remorse. (Mutable: sympathetic)

last-supperIn the Book of Revelation 4:7 it reads, "And the first animal was like a lion (symbol of Leo), and the second animal was like a bull (symbol of Taurus), and the third animal had a face of a man (symbol of Aquarius, the water bearing man), and the fourth animal was like a flying eagle (ancient symbol of Scorpio)"

The World card in the Tarot deck shows these four symbols that are described in the Book of Revelation. Look in each corner of this card. These signs described in the book of revelation are the 4 Fixed Signs of the Zodiac. This shows the symbolism of astrology and its existence since ancient times.

I do not use astrology to predict future events. I feel astrology has changed my life for the better and I want to use this tool to help others. I use astrology as a tool to help clients who are seeking answers about many aspects of life such as career, relationships, emotions and personality issues. Astrology can be used to better understand ourselves and others. My goal is to help others understand why they feel a certain way, why they are drawn to certain types of people and what their gifts and abilities are. My goal is to empower my clients and help them utilize the information in a positive way.

Modalities & Signs

The most interesting fact about modalities and the easiest way to remember what signs are ruled by which quality is to look at what astrologer’s call, “Polar Opposites”. The astrological wheel is made up of 12 houses and each house is ruled by one of the 12 signs. Polar opposites are signs that always oppose each other on the wheel. No matter which day, time or year these signs are always across from each other. The most interesting thing is that polar opposites are always the same modality.

There are 4 signs within each modality. Polar opposites share the same modality and are always compatible elements. If you look in nature you can observe scientifically, the elements at work. Fire signs are compatible with Air signs. Earth signs are compatible with Water signs. If you try to throw water on a fire, what happens? It puts the fire out. The same can be experienced when a fire sign and water sign get together. Air causes Fire to grow and expand creating a compatible energy. The same can be seen with Earth and Water signs. Water helps the earth grow and blossom and without the earth, water would have no home.

Polar opposites are always the same modality, Cardinal, Fixed or Mutable. They are also always a compatible element. Water and Earth signs always oppose each other on the wheel and Fire and Air signs oppose each other. This is the easiest way to remember the associations.

Cardinal

  • Aries & Libra (Polar Opposites)
  • Capricorn & Cancer (Polar Opposites)
Self-motivated, ambitious, activity starters, enthusiastic about ideas. Cardinal signs start the seasons. Aries starts the Spring, Cancer starts the Summer, Libra starts the Fall, and Capricorn starts the Winter season.

Fixed

  • Taurus & Scorpio (Polar Opposites)
  • Leo & Aquarius (Polar Opposites)
Determined, strong-willed, stubborn, stable, purposeful and absorbers of energy.

Mutable

  • Virgo & Pisces (Polar Opposites)
  • Gemini & Sagittarius (Polar Opposites)
Changeable, easy-going, versatile, resourceful and adaptable.

Gender

It is easy to remember what gender each sign is, because all fire and air signs represent the masculine quality. Earth and water signs manifest the feminine quality.

The Most Important Aspects

The Sun Sign, Moon Sign and Ascendant or Rising Sign are the three mostimportant energetic influences in your chart. Each aspect manifests and expresses itself in a different way.

The Sun SignThe Sun Sign

The Sun sign is your main identity and how you express who you really are. It is your basic expression and focal point for all aspects of your life. The Sun is how you express yourself to the world. The Sun is associated with the Father figure in our lives and in the chart can tell a lot about our relationship with our father. You will always have traits of your Sun Sign and will express those traits in very different ways depending on which house the Sun is in when you were born. The house affectthe expression of our Sun Sign personality traits and needs to be examined to gain a clearer picture.

The Moon SignThe Moon Sign

The Moon is our basic emotional nature. The energy of the Moon Sign will express itself in subtle, reactive ways to a variety of situations. The gut instincts, emotional responses and inner-self are ruled by the Moon Sign. The Moon sign traits represent how we express love, emotions and sharing of our deepest intuitive feelings with others. The Moon in our chart represents the Mother figure in our lives can tell a lot about our relationship with our mother.

Ascendant or Rising Sign

The Rising Sign traits are what others perceive about you and how you express yourself to the outer world. The sign on the horizon in your chart or placed on the 1 st house cusp will symbolize how others judge you. This sign can fool others and cause individuals to judge you inaccurately on first impression. The rising sign can also show how you adapt to stressful situations and how you look physically. The physical appearance is often associated with the rising sign. When you first meet someone, you can sense their basic personality traits and fool yourself into believing you know how they truly are. Be careful, because the rising sign could be clouding your true vision. I have a friend with Aquarius rising. Everyone that meets her thinks she is detached, cold and uninterested in them or their ideas. Once they get to know her, they realize she is nothing like they thought she was. When they know her in a deeper way, they realize that she is a Sun Sign Virgo and is very caring. This is an important thing to remember when analyzing which sign falls on the horizon.
